Here is a copy of The Periodic Table of Elements. It shows the first 109 chemical elements. There are a few more, but they are only found inside nuclear reactors and do not last very long. I call them "silly elements" because they are radioactive and have very short half-lives.
Elements in light green boxes are all solids at room temperature. The liquids are shown in light blue boxes and the gases in yellow boxes. Each box shows the chemical symbol and atomic number. It would be a good idea to memorize the names and symbols for the first 20 elements and some others which you know are important: i.e. Gold, Silver, Iron. Just make up your own mind which ones are the most important.
There are a few important points to know about the table:
Elements in vertical columns have very similar properties.
Hydrogen is an exception being a gas and non-metal
Columns are called "Groups".
Group I are the "Alkali Metals" eg Lithium
Group II are the "Alkaline Earth Metals" e.g. Beryllium
Group VII are the "Halogens" e.g. Fluorine
Group VIII are the "Noble Gases" e.g. Helium
The metals in the middle of the table are called "Transition Metals" e.g. Iron
Elements 57 to 71 are called the "Lanthanum Series" or "Lanthanides"
Elements 90 to 103 are called the Actinium Series" or "Actinides"
